Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Bolzano → Soprabolzano (Funivia del Renon / Rittner Seilbahn)
Start from Bolzano at the Renon Cable Car station (Via Renon, near Piazza Walther).
The cable car takes you up to Soprabolzano (Oberbozen) in about 12 minutes, with spectacular views of Bolzano and the Dolomites.
Step 2: option A and B
Option A: Panoramic Walk (instead of the train)
From Soprabolzano, you can skip the train and enjoy the famous Sigmund Freud Promenade, a beautiful panoramic walk with views of the Dolomites.

Along the way, you’ll find benches, viewpoints, and information boards.
At the Info Point in Soprabolzano, you can also ask about other trails and recommendations.
Food Tip: Soprabolzano has several charming restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy a traditional South Tyrolean meal before continuing your journey.
Option B: Historic Mountain Train
If you prefer, take the scenic Renon Train (Rittner Bahn) from Soprabolzano to Collalbo (Klobenstein).
Duration: about 20 minutes
A nostalgic ride with open views across meadows, forests, and peaks.
Step 3: Collalbo → Pemmern
From Collalbo, take the bus to Pemmern (included with the Ritten Card).
Duration: about 10 minutes.
The bus drops you directly at the base station of the Rittner Horn cable car.
Step 4: Pemmern → Corno del Renon (Rittner Horn)
From Pemmern, take the Rittner Horn cable car to the top.
Duration: about 8 minutes.
At the top station, enjoy a 360° panorama: Dolomites, Ortler Alps, Zillertal Alps, and more.
At the Top
From the summit you can:
Take easy panoramic walks.
Visit cozy mountain huts for local specialties.
Simply relax and enjoy some of the best views in South Tyrol.
In total, the trip takes about 1.5–2 hours one way, depending on whether you take the train, walk, or stop along the way for food and photos.
At the Renon Cable Car station, there is an Info Point where you can get more tips about hikes, local activities, and which mountain huts are open for dining.
P.S. If the cable car is closed for maintenance, a replacement bus service is always available. The bus departs from the stop located right next to the cable car station.
